Nuna Pipa Lite RX should be one of the infant car seats that I’m not sure exactly sure how to begin a review or summarise in a single paragraph. Usually, I like to highlight the top features but this time, I’m truly stumped. Not because this infant car seat has nothing going for it, but because it has everything going for it.
Whilst the first batch of stock flew off the shelves faster than a group of bargain-hunters rushing through the sliding doors of a Walmart store on Black Friday. I was lucky enough to get an exclusive look at this titan of an infant car seat, and let me tell you, the Pipa Lite RX is an absolute marvel in car seat innovation. It’s seen what its competitors can do and have savagely outpaced them with its sophisticated style, lightweight design, and never-seen-before canopy, color options, and base features.

Will the Nunpa Pipa Lite RX Be a Good Fit For Your Child and Family?
Well, my first instinct is to say, every family.
That’s because the Nuna has been built and designed according to the new needs of young parents. It’s fully adaptable, thanks to its average weight and height limit, compact and lightweight design, and safety extras like an extendable canopy and an advanced base with a load leg.
This means its ride quality is almost unparalleled. No matter where your traveling appetite lies, the Nuna Pipa Lite RX will be able to match your stride for stride.
That being said, you need to pay for more on this baby gear. At the end of the day, it’s one of the most expensive car seats – its $550 listing price is as expensive as the Doona infant car seat stroller.
At this point, the Pipa Lite RX is not suitable for families that have a limited budget on a car seat, especially considering it’s a rear-facing only car seat that can’t be used after your baby outgrows the 32-pound weight limit or 32-inch height limit.

Is the price tag worth it?
That depends.
Nuna Pipa Lite RX is, without any shadow of a doubt, one of the best infant car seats I’ve ever reviewed. You only need to take a look at its impressive spec sheet and the long list of unique, proprietary features to see this, including high capacity, lightweight design (6.9 pounds), baseless installation, and high-quality materials.
These make it top-notch among its competitors. Most car seats are a melting pot of standard elements you’d find in any component bin, put together in factories most commonly hundreds or thousands of miles away from the brand’s HQ. This is why so many models seem so similar, such as the car seats from Graco and Safety 1st.
This isn’t the case with the Pipa Lite RX and other Nuna car seats. The Pipa Lite RX comes equipped with the company’s innovative Sky Drape and the better-performance RELX base (vs Pipa base).
Of course, there are infant car seats out there that have a higher height and weight limit (Chicco Fit2) and are cheaper, however, the Pipa Lite RX offers a more well-rounded package that a wide scope of parents would love. Plus, it’s a true masterclass in innovation, something that even your more impressive run-of-the-mill models lack.
In short, if you’re going to shell out this much on an infant car seat, there’s only one other infant car seat you should consider alongside it, the Doona infant car seat stroller – the only car seat with built-in wheels on the market.

The Nuna Pipa Lite series has a similar design. So it’s not surprising that the Nupa Pipa Lite RX measures 27.25 inches in length, 17.5 inches in width, and 23 inches in height – they are the same as the Pipa Lite LX.
Infant car seats at these dimensions are considerably compact. Along with its lightweight design (weighing 6.9 pounds), the Pipa Lite RX is a great choice for parents who are looking for an infant car seat that is easy to carry and transport.
In terms of width, the Nuna Pipa Lite RX falls within the average range for infant car seats on the market. The 17.5-inch width is relatively narrow and won’t take much space from the sides. It is a bit wider than the narrowest convertible car seats at 17 inches but is good to fit 3 across in most vehicles.
What needs your attention is the length. If an infant car seat has a greater length, that means it probably borrows space from the front row. This can be a negative point if you’re planning to install it on the window side because it may affect the driver or front passenger.

8. Nuna Pipa Lite RX Installation
Before starting to install the car seat, you may where to put it. The center of the back seat is probably the safest position to install a car seat.
If possible, install the car seat on that spot. If that seat is not applicable for a proper installation, for example lacking a shoulder belt, either seat on the side would be safe. You may choose any of them based on your family’s and kid’s needs.
It’s a pity that the Nuna Pipa lite LX does not support baseless installation. That means the base should be used always the time, no matter whether you choose to install it with the LATCH or seat belt. This definitely reduces its performance in its portability if you want to take it for air travel.

2 – Position base in a forward facing vehicle seat. Adjust base so bubble touches line.

5 – If necessary, install rigid LATCH guides on vehicle LATCH lower anchor bars.
6 – Rotate rigid LATCH (lower attachments) down.
7 – Hook rigid LATCH onto vehicle LATCH lower anchor bars.
8 – Confirm proper installation by pulling on the base AND also seeing that green is indicated on the connectors. The rigid LATCH (lower attachments) must be attached and locked onto the vehicle anchor bars.
Install Nuna Pipa Lite RX Using Lap/Shoulder Belt
1 – Place vehicle in park and on level ground.
2 – Position base in a forward facing vehicle seat. Adjust base so bubble touches line.
3 – If necessary, use recline adjustment to position bubble in level indicator to achieve correct angle for installation. Recline adjustment locks into position.
4 – To release recline adjustment, press down on lock button located under base.
5 – Open the vehicle belt lock off by lifting up.
6 – Route the vehicle belt through the opening in the base labeled ‘belt here’ and under the vehicle belt lock off.
7 – Buckle the vehicle belt. Both the shoulder AND lap belt must be under the vehicle belt lock off and belts must lay flat.
8 – While pressing the base into the vehicle seat (1), tighten the vehicle belt by pulling straight along the belt path (2).
9 – While the shoulder belt is tight, hook the bottom of the vehicle belt lock off (1) and press to close (2). If vehicle only has a lap belt, then put lap belt under vehicle belt lock off.
Attach the Child Restraint to Base
1 – After child is properly secured in child restraint, press child restraint on base and listen for a click. Pull on child restraint to verify installation. DO NOT allow child restraint or handle to contact the vehicle interior (side of car door or seat in front) when installed on base.
2 – To release the child restraint, squeeze the carrier release button (1) located on the base and then pull the child restraint up (2).
3 – To remove the base, first push the base toward the vehicle seat with a light force.
4 – As you push the base toward the vehicle seat, squeeze the secondary (1) and primary rigid LATCH release buttons (2). For ease of release, push the secondary button first, then the primary button.
5 – Then pull the base off of the bars.
