Face Rear & Front
Boasting a titanic size limit, 12-position for headrest adjustment, and sitting comfortably within the top 10 car seats with a 5-point harness up to a 120-pound weight limit, there’s a lot to love about the Evenflo EveryFit. It negotiates a delicate balance between safety and comfort performance and price – delivering a highly versatile and nimble car seat that lasts a few years. But most of all (as far as all-in-one car seats go) it’s affordable and most certainly a model that no confessed family can afford to miss. After all, reminiscent of Bumblebee from Transformers (it does transition to 4 modes.), it stands out from the crowd with a flamboyant yet effortlessly 4-in-1 design and a higher booster weight limit.

Evenflo EveryFit Review - Best Budget 4-in-1 Car Seat
1. Pros and Cons
2. Who Is It Best For?
Will the Evenflo EveryFit Be a Good Fit For Your Child and Family?
Evenflo – a long-history US brand manufacturing budget and affordable car seats – reminds me of Samsung Galaxy. There’s always a new model on the market – each one improving on the specs and the features of the last – and it’s always tough to know exactly which is going to be right for you.
After all, the EveryFit surpasses a lot of versatile car seats with a 4-in-1 design. So why should you go for the Evenflo EveryFit car seat – and is it right for you?
Well, it is best for families looking for a model that lasts almost as long as Evenflo’s top model – Revolve360 Extend – but who still have one eye on their budget. It’s also a whole 120 lbs higher weight limit than its high-spec counterpart, meaning it’s better for big or heavy kids.
The EveryFit adds more modes and a pure high weight limit than other all-in-one car seats on the market. Plus, with two cup holders and machine-washable fabrics for comfort, it has plenty of goodies and a same-price class car seat to deliver.
It’s highly versatile, and – though it outperforms in the practicality. The Evenflo EveryFit is one of the top three real 4-in-1 car seats that allow transition from a rear-facing infant car seat for newborns, to a forward-facing 5-point harness car seat for toddlers, to a high-back booster for preschoolers, and to a no-back booster for big kids.
As a long-term investment, it means business and is ideal as the only travel gear you’ll need to safely ride your little one in the car seat, just as its main competitors do.
Sound like it might be the right fit for you and your kid? Read on – I’m breaking down everything you need to know about the Evenflo EveryFit 4-in-1 car seat.
3. Value for Money
Is the price tag worth it?
At $209.99 (the price as the post published), the Evenflo EveryFit is highly competitively priced.
It’s $50 slightly more expensive than the Safety 1st Grow and Go – which, as you’ll see in the next section, sports similar safety specs. However, with the EveryFit, you’re getting a true 4-in-1 car seat with one more mode and higher weight and height limits that can be used for a longer time.
Compared to the Graco 4Ever DLX, it’s $120 cheaper. The 4Ever DLX will give you more safety features (ProtectPlus), easier-to-use LATCH connectors (InRight vs SureSafe), and a lot of extras like the belt-locking system for easier and tighter installation with the seat belt, and ‘Rapid Remove’ cover design to take off the seat pad in a more effortless way.
Aside from these differences, both 4-in-1 car seats share a few same features. You can think about the 4Ever like a souped-up EveryFit. If you’re in the market for a cost-effective car seat and want a model that is nimble and still packs a high limit, then you’re going to be very happy with the Evenflo EveryFit.
To paint a broader picture of value for money, in our database of 50+ car seats, two models rival the Evenflo EveryFit for multiple modes. These are the Graco 4Ever DLX ($324.99, introduced above) and Graco Grows4Me ($269.99). From the prices of these car seats (primarily the Graco models), it’s clear how well the EveryFit stacks up. Digging even deeper, the size limit (weight limit) is within the same region as these models, too.
Dimensions and Width
Like most other convertible and all-in-one car seats, the Evenflo EveryFit is bulky in design. The original dimensions with no recline and headrest adjustment measure 19 inches (width) x 22.5 inches (depth) x 32.5 inches (height).
In terms of width, the EveryFit car seat is not considered narrow, not as slim fit as those narrow car seats under 18.5-inch. That’s acceptable because it is designed to accommodate children up to 120 pounds – children at this weight should be big and need a little more space. However, compared to some other bulkier convertible car seats on the market, it is not particularly wide and may fit well in smaller or compact vehicles.
As for compactness, the EveryFit car seat is not the most compact option available, given its 4-in-1 design and the ability to accommodate larger children. However, it is still relatively compact compared to other car seats with similar features, and the multiple recline positions make it possible to fit it into different seating positions in the vehicle.
Overall, the EveryFit car seat strikes a good balance between versatility and size, making it a practical choice for many families, especially when you add its cheap price for consideration. It was once one of the best cheap car seats under $200, but we took it off of the list because of its increased price of over $200.
The Evenflo EveryFit 4-in-1 car seat weighs approximately 19 pounds, which is relatively average for a convertible car seat. While the weight of the car seat may not be considered light, it is not excessively heavy either, and it is still possible to move it around as needed. But it’s not recommended to do so for its poor performance in the ease of installation.
Regarding portability, the 19-pound weight, as well as the relatively bulky design make the EveryFit can’t hit high scores in this aspect. The final result? The Evenflo EveryFit is not a travel car seat. You’d better use it in one car seat and not switch it from car to car unless it’s necessary.
If you take the kids to travel with you frequently, choosing a lightweight convertible car seat or a car seat that is portable would be a better option.
Cup Holder - Two
The Evenflo EveryFit is a car seat with cup holders. It includes two built-in cup holders, which are located on either side of the car seat. These cup holders are good to hold cups, bottles, or snacks, providing a convenient and easily accessible spot for children to store their drinks and snacks during car rides.
They are deep and have a flexible design that accommodates a variety of cup sizes, making them versatile and practical for different types of drinks and snacks. They are also easy to clean, as they are removable and dishwasher safe.
Overall, the cup holders on the EveryFit car seat are a great convenience feature for parents and children alike. They help keep drinks and snacks within easy reach during car rides, and their practical design makes them easy to use and clean.
Headrest and Harness - 12 Positions
As a 4-in-1 car seat designed to accommodate a 120-pound child, the Evenflo EveryFit has 12 headrest positions, which allows for a more customized and comfortable fit for children of different weights and heights. The adjustable headrest can help to keep a child’s head and neck in a comfortable and safe position during travel.
Unlike its cheap model Sonus 65, the EveryFit improves its convenience to adjust the headrest and harness. The car seat comes equipped with a no-rethread harness system and the headrest and harness can be adjusted together.
This means that as the headrest is adjusted up or down, the harness height is automatically adjusted as well, making it easy for parents to adjust this as their child grows and ensure a proper and comfortable fit.
Adjusting the headrest and harness together can also help ensure that the harness is properly positioned on the child’s shoulders. The harness should be at or just below the child’s shoulders in the rear-facing mode, and at or just above the child’s shoulders in the forward-facing mode.
Overall, the adjustable headrest on the Evenflo EveryFit car seat can contribute to a more comfortable and secure fit for children, which can help to make travel more enjoyable for both children and parents.
Reclines - 4 Positions
The Evenflo EveryFit has only four recline positions, which can help to provide a more comfortable and secure fit for children of different ages and sizes. The four-position seems a bit fewer than its competitors and other all-in-one car seats at the same price range.
A car seat with a different recline position will allow you to find the best fit position to improve the child’s alignment and comfort while traveling in the car seat.
In the rear-facing mode, newborns and small infants should be placed partly because younger children are not yet able to sit up on their own. The recline feature can help to keep their head and neck in a comfortable and safe position, which can also help to prevent breathing difficulties or other issues that can arise when a child’s head falls forward while sleeping.
In the forward-facing mode, big kids have more control of their neck and body and the car seat is installed upright. But the recline feature still helps improve the child’s comfort by providing additional support for their upper body and head. This can help to reduce strain on the child’s neck and back, which can be especially important during long car rides.
The Evenflo EveryFit includes head and body support pillows to provide a more comfortable and secure fit for infants and younger children. They are removable and can be removed as the little passenger grows to around 10 pounds.
The head support pillow is good to help keep an infant’s head in a safe and comfortable position while they are riding in the car seat. This can help to prevent their head from falling forward, which can lead to breathing difficulties or other issues. As a child grows, the head support pillow can be removed to provide more room and allow for a better fit.
The body support pillow is used to provide additional cushioning and support for a child’s body, raising them up when they are too small to reach the lowest harness strap slots.
Comfort does not compromise for the budget price. Priced around $200, the Evenflo EveryFit is still made with high-quality materials that are both durable and comfortable. The car seat features a soft and plush seat cushion and headrest, as well as padded armrests, which can help to provide a comfortable and secure fit for children.
The car seat’s fabric covers are made from a combination of polyester and spandex, which are both durable and easy to clean. The covers are removable and machine washable, so it’s easy and time-saving for parents to keep the car seat clean.
Plus, the EveryFit features a built-in ventilation system, which helps to improve airflow and reduce heat buildup during warm weather. This can help to improve the child’s comfort during long car rides.
5. Evenflo EveryFit Safety Rating and Crash Tests
Is it safe to use Evenflo EveryFit?
Same as all car seats sold in the United States, the Evenflo EveryFit is manufactured and tested to meet or exceed all applicable federal safety standards (FMVSS 213 for example). This includes meeting or exceeding requirements for crash testing, structural integrity, and flammability resistance.
The EveryFit car seat has undergone rigorous testing to ensure its safety in the event of a crash. It has been tested in various crash scenarios, including side-impact and rollover crashes, and has passed these tests with high marks. The car seat also features multiple layers of energy-absorbing foam and a steel-reinforced frame, which helps to protect children in the event of a collision.
In addition to meeting federal safety standards, the EveryFit car seat has been evaluated and rated by independent safety organizations. It has been awarded the “Best Bet Booster” rating by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), which indicates that it provides good belt fit for typical 4- to 8-year-olds in booster mode.
Overall, the Evenflo EveryFit 4-in-1 car seat is considered a safe and reliable choice for parents who want to ensure the safety of their children while traveling by car. It has undergone rigorous testing and has been rated highly by independent safety organizations, providing parents with peace of mind when it comes to their child’s safety.
Side Impact Protection
It’s required for a car seat with a 5-point harness to be tested for side impact protection with an occupant retention in the car seat. So does the Evenflo EveryFit.
This car seat features a combination of advanced safety features to protect children from side-impact crashes. It has a layer of energy-absorbing foam that helps to absorb and dissipate crash forces, reducing the risk of injury. The car seat also has a steel-reinforced frame that provides additional strength and durability, helping to keep children securely in place during a collision.
In addition to these features, the EveryFit car seat has been designed with side-impact-tested rollover standards. It has been tested to ensure that it can protect children in the event of a rollover crash, providing parents with added peace of mind when it comes to their child’s safety.
Evenflo EveryFit Weight and Height Limits
As a 4-in-1 car seat, it’s no surprise that the Evenflo EveryFit is able to accommodate children from infancy through to booster mode. It has four different modes of use, each with different height and weight limits.
Rear-facing mode: This mode is suitable for infants from 4 to 40 pounds and up to 40 inches tall. It features a five-point harness system and can be adjusted to provide a comfortable fit for infants of different sizes. The car seat also includes a removable infant head and body support for added comfort and support for newborns.
Forward-facing mode: This mode is suitable for toddlers from 22 to 65 pounds and up to 54 inches tall. It features a five-point harness system and can be adjusted to provide a comfortable fit for toddlers of different sizes. The car seat also includes a multi-position recline feature to provide added comfort for children during long car rides.
High-back booster mode: This mode is suitable for children from 40 to 120 pounds and up to 57 inches tall. It features a high-back booster seat that provides added head and neck support for children. The car seat also includes a removable backrest for an easy transition to a backless booster mode.
Backless booster mode: This mode is suitable for children from 40 to 120 pounds and up to 57 inches tall. It features a backless booster seat that provides a comfortable and secure fit for older children. The car seat also includes integrated belt guides to help ensure proper positioning of the seat belt across the child’s lap and shoulder.
Overall, the EveryFit car seat offers a wide range of height and weight limits to accommodate children from infancy through to booster mode. The different modes of use provide flexibility for parents as their child grows, and the adjustable features and added support ensure that children are comfortable and secure during car rides.
Stage / Modes - Three
The Evenflo EveryFit is an all-in-one car seat. It allows for three different stages/ 4 modes of use, which makes it a versatile option for parents. These three stages/4 modes are Rear-facing harness mode (40 lbs/ 40″); Forward-facing harness mode (65 lbs/ 49″); High-back booster mode and backless booster mode (120 lbs/ 57″).
By allowing for these four different stages of use, the EveryFit car seat can accommodate a child’s growth and development over time, providing parents with a long-term car seat solution. The multiple stages of use also allow parents to save money by not having to purchase separate car seats for each stage of their child’s growth.
While there is no exact age limit for each stage of the Evenflo EveryFit, the car seat is capable of riding children at different stages of development based on their weight and height. Here are the general age ranges for each stage:
Rear-facing mode: Suitable for infants from birth to around 2 years of age, or until they reach the weight and height limits for this mode.
Forward-facing mode: Suitable for toddlers from around 2 years of age to around 4 years of age, or until they reach the weight and height limits for this mode.
High-back booster mode: Suitable for children from around 4 years of age to around 8 years of age, or until they reach the weight and height limits for this mode.
Backless booster mode: Suitable for children from around 8 years of age to around 12 years of age, or until they reach the weight and height limits for this mode.
These age ranges are general guidelines just for reference, and parents should refer to the weight and height limits for each mode to determine when it’s time to transition their child to the next stage. Additionally, some states and countries have specific laws and regulations regarding car seat use and when children can be transitioned to different stages, so parents should also consult local laws and guidelines.
Is Evenflo EveryFit FAA approved for use on a plane?
The Evenflo EveryFit is FAA approved for airplane use. This means that it can be used on airplanes to keep children safe during flights.
Here are the requirements for using the EveryFit on a plane:
The car seat must fit properly in the airplane seat. The EveryFit measures 19 inches in width, so parents should confirm that the car seat will fit properly in the airplane seat before flying.
The car seat must be installed properly in the airplane seat. Parents should follow the manufacturer’s instructions for installing the car seat on an airplane, which may differ slightly from installation in a car.
The child must be within the weight and height limits for the car seat’s rear-facing or forward-facing modes. Car seats can be used in the harness mode on a plane. You CAN NOT use a high-back or backless booster on planes for the installation issue – booster seats must be installed with a lap-shoulder belt system but there is only a lap belt on a plane seat.
The child must be secured properly in the car seat. Parents should follow the manufacturer’s instructions for securing the child in the car seat during the flight.
Not all airlines allow the use of car seats on flights. Parents should check with their airline before flying to confirm their specific policies regarding car seat use on airplanes.
How long is Evenflo EveryFit 4 in 1 car seat good for
Like all other car seats, the Evenflo EveryFit expires. It has a lifespan of around 10 years from the date of manufacture. After this time, the car seat should not be used as it may no longer be safe or effective.
There are a few reasons why car seats have expiration dates. Over time, the materials used in the car seat can degrade, which can impact the seat’s safety and effectiveness. Additionally, safety standards and regulations may change over time, so an older car seat may no longer meet current safety standards.
To find the expiration date of the Evenflo EveryFit car seat, parents can check the sticker located on the bottom of the car seat. The expiration date is typically printed on the sticker along with other important information, such as the model number, serial number, and manufacturing date.
It’s important for parents to keep track of the expiration date of their child’s car seat and replace it before it expires. This ensures that their child is always riding in a safe and effective car seat.
The Evenflo provides a 90-day limited warranty for the Maestro Sport harness booster car seat, starting from the date of original purchase. The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service.
That’s the shortest among the car seats. The majority of the car seat brands, like Britax, Graco, Safety 1st, and Chicco offer a limited one-year warranty for their products. Diono and Doona do even better, both provide an extended 36-month warranty as long as you register the car seat.
7. Evenflo EveryFit Installation
Before starting to install the car seat, you may where to put it. The center of the back seat is probably the safest position to install a car seat.
If possible, install the car seat on that spot. If that seat is not applicable for a proper installation, for example lacking a shoulder belt, either seat on the side would be safe. You may choose any of them based on your family’s and kid’s needs.
Evenflo EveryFit Rear-facing Installation
Choose Installation way: Lap-Shoulder Belt, Lap belt or LATCH
There are three methods for choosing to install the Evenflo EveryFit in the rear-facing position: Lap-shoulder belt (best), lap-belt (if no first option), or LATCH.
