2. Who Is It Best For?

Will the Britax Grow with You ClickTight be a good option for your child?

The Britax Grow with You ClickTight is a great fit for bigger toddlers who grow a bit faster than their peers.

It’ll suit parents looking for the second or third car seat; who want to take the step up after their kids outgrow the convertible car seats.

Thanks to its top 120-pound booster weight limit and 63-inch booster height limit, the Grow with You ClickTight is good for taller kids to stay in a car seat for longer, up to 8-10 years.

It’s a pity that it does not have a higher harness height for parents who prefer to put their kids in harness mode for a longer time. Chicco MyFit would be a better option for its 54-inch harness height limit.

3. Value for Money

Is the price tag worth it?

With more than $300 for a harness to a booster seat, few parents are going to be claiming that the Grow with You ClickTight is budget-friendly. But is it worth the outlay? It depends.

As we’ll see shortly, it’s the best performer for weight and height range in its car seat type, whilst its ClickTight technique puts it amongst the prestigious ranks of the industry’s top performers.

While it delivers a blistering ride, you can get more bang for your buck elsewhere. It just depends on what you’re looking for.

For better portability performance, you should check the Graco Atlas 65. For longer riding in a 5-point harness, the Chicco MyFit features up to 54-inch higher harness height.

If your kid likes heroes like Spiderman or princesses from Disney, the Kidsembrace is going to make your boy or girl happy in the car seat.

All these are great options that also cost hundreds of dollars less than Grow with You ClickTight.

However, this does not mean the Britax Grow with You ClickTight is not worth your consideration. If you are busy parents and want an easy car seat installation, its ClickTight feature saves you much time.

This harness booster car seat has a longer lifespan that is ultra-friendly for fast-growing children.

It’s a pity that the fabric is not machine washable. That’s really a pain.

4. Britax Grow with You ClickTight Design

Dimension and Width

The Britax Grow with You ClickTight is a bulky harness booster seat, due to its width and height.

The 19-inch is at least one or two inches wider than other slim car seats. Don’t underestimate this 1-2 inch gap, which is really a big thing in a motor vehicle, especially in compact cars.

Because it absolutely won’t fit 3 across, if you have two or more kids in a car seat but with a small motor vehicle, it should not be a great option anyway.

The 25–inch height does not seem to match its 120-pound weight limit and 63-inch height limit. It is good but a bit common compared to its competitors, beaten by the KidsEmbrace’s 29.5-inch height and Chicco MyFit’s 27-inch height.

The 21-inch depth is just average. But Grow with You ClickTight supports overhang across a small back seat, just like most Britax models do.

Don’t complain about the large size in a rush. A few moms and dads appraise its width on the shoulder area. Plus, the Britax Grow with You ClickTight provides plenty of room for the little ones to grow and stay comfortable.

Portability

Weighing up to 25 pounds, the Britax Grow with You ClickTight is a TANK. It is the heaviest harness booster seat and might have a name in the weight ranking of all the car seats.

As a result, it gets a rating of 6 out of 10 for its portability performance.

It’s so heavy that you won’t take it for air travel even though it’s certified for airplane use in the harness mode.

If you really need a car seat for your boy or girl to travel by plane, the Graco Atlas 65 is less in weight.

However, it’s not the most portable one. Among our reviews for the child safety seats, the Diono Radian 3R gets the highest score in portability for its folding design.

Parents can carry it easily to the airport with two shoulder straps.

Two Cup Holders

On each side, there is a cup holder that is used to hold the water bottles or snacks.

They are not big in size but still convenient for your boys or girls to easily reach for their drinks.

The cup holders are just under the armrest and within easy reach even for toddlers.

It’s a pity that they are not removable. This means that it will be a bit more difficult for you to wash them if they get dirty.

Not as good as those dishwasher-safe cup holders that can be detached from the car seat for machine washing.

Britax Grow with You ClickTight Cup Holders

6. Crash Tests and Safety Ratings

The Britax Grow with You ClickTight has a few additional features to enhance its protection for a better safety rating, more than the basic requirements to meet or exceed the child restraint criteria for a frontal crash test under the US FMVSS 213 and the 5-point harness for side impact protection test.

The first thing to appraise is the ClickTight feature, which enables installing a car seat with a seat belt much easier, under the guidance of the belt route.

Many parents, including my best friend – Jessica, have very positive comments on this feature that will help the parent install the car seat correctly and tightly for a safe ride.

Secondly, the SafeCell protection system which consists of a high-strength steel frame, energy-absorbing base, and a V-shaped tether is helpful to minimize seat rotation and reduce forward movement in the event of a crash.

6. Performance

Weight and Height Limits

Here are the weight and height requirements for using the Britax Grow with You ClickTight for riding a boy or a girl.

Harness Mode:

Use only with children who weigh between 25 and 65 lbs (11.3 and 30 kg) and whose height is between 34 and 49 in. (85 and 125 cm) and are at least 2 years of age

Harness Mode Children must:

1. Be at least two years of age; and

2. Weigh between 25 and 65 lbs (11.3 and 30 kg); and

3. Stand between 34 and 49 in. (85 and 125 cm) in height; and

4. The top of the child’s ears must be below the top of the head restraint when seated; and

5. The harness straps must be in the closest position at or above the child’s shoulders when seated.

Booster Mode:

Use only with children who weigh between 40 and 120 lbs (18 and 54 kg) and whose height is between 44 and 63 in. (110 and 160 cm). • Snugly adjust the belts provided with this child restraint around your child.

Booster Mode NOTE:

Britax recommends booster mode only after the child outgrows harness mode. Children must:

1. Weigh between 40 and 120 lbs (18 and 54 kg); and

2. Stand between 44 and 63 in. (110 and 160 cm) in height; and

3. The top of the child’s ears must be below the top of the head restraint; and

4. The vehicle shoulder belt must lay straight across the center of the child’s chest, with the shoulder belt guide positioned above the child’s shoulders and does not contact the child’s neck; and

5. The lap part of the vehicle seat belt should be worn under the armrests and rest low on the child’s upper thighs.

Age Range

Like all harness to booster seats, the Britax Grow with You ClickTight is good for toddlers and big kids, whilst it lacks the ability to ride newborns and small infants

It’s suitable for toddlers 2 years or older, only forward-facing. You can easily know this from its minimum weight and height requirement – 25 pounds and 34 inches.

As a booster seat with a harness, this unit is going to grow with your boys or girls to preteens around 9-10 years old, thanks to a 120-pound top weight and 63-inch top height.

You may find that Grow with You ClickTight has higher weight and height limits. This combination makes it great for bigger kids.

Stages

The stage informant can be easily found via its name. It’s obvious that the Britax Grow with You ClickTight is capable of riding a boy or girl through two of the four car seat stages – harness (forward-facing) and booster.

It’s designed for toddlers and big kids, missing the first stage to ride an infant who is 2 years or younger in the rear-facing stage.

Airplane

Is a Britax Grow with You ClickTight allowed on planes?

Yes. This restraint is certified for use in aircraft when used in harness mode.

But you should not use it on planes in the booster mode because belt-positioning boosters require lap-shoulder belts that are not available in aircraft.

From the above, you may know that you should install the Britax Grow with You ClickTight with the lap belt for air travel.

It’s STRONGLY recommended to call the airline to make sure this car seat can be installed on their planes before onboarding.

Lifespan

How long is Britax Grow with You ClickTight good for

Britax Grow with You ClickTight has a long 9-year lifespan. That’s the average among the Britax car seats longevity before expiration.

However, this does not mean you can use it for 9 years. The lifespan is generally calculated from its manufacturer date.

But it’s still good and long-lasting to match its performance to ride a child from toddler to tween until your child is ready to use the vehicle’s seat belt for safety.

Here might be the real case, you purchase the car seat for a toddler at 2 years, then it goes through less than 8 years of usage. After that, your child grows to 10 years or younger, but guessing older than 8 years of age.

Whilst all US states do not require a child older than 8 years to travel in a car seat, the real usage is quite long.
